OpenAI, the brains behind ChatGPT, has introduced a new Archive feature to streamline the user experience. This feature allows users to archive their chats, a functionality familiar to users of platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp. The primary goal is to reduce clutter in chatboxes, providing a more organized and user-friendly interface.
To archive a conversation with ChatGPT, users can simply navigate to the search chats window, tap on the three dots, and select the Archive option. This action removes the chat from the immediate sidebar without permanently deleting it. Users can access their archived chats in the Settings section. Currently, this feature is available on the web and iOS versions of ChatGPT, with the Android version set to launch soon.
OpenAI shared this update on X, stating, “You can now archive your chats in ChatGPT! Archive removes chats from your sidebar without deleting them. You can see your archived chats in Settings. Currently available on Web and iOS with Android coming soon.”
The strategic implementation of chat archiving addresses the need for a cleaner and more organized chat space while retaining the historical context of conversations. Users can now manage their workspace more efficiently without losing track of their interaction history.
In addition to this feature, OpenAI recently democratized the voice chat option on the ChatGPT mobile app, making it accessible to all users, irrespective of their subscription status. Previously restricted to paying users, this move aims to provide a more immersive experience for all.
To engage with the voice chat feature, users can locate the headphone icon next to the prompt box within the ChatGPT mobile app. Clicking the icon prompts a pop-up guide detailing the Chat with Voice feature. Users can choose from various voice options to personalize their interaction, enabling seamless voice conversations with ChatGPT. OpenAI continues to enhance the user experience, making AI interactions more intuitive and accessible.
