Overjet, a pioneer in dental AI, has secured $53.2 million in funding led by March Capital, marking the largest investment in dental artificial intelligence history. This significant funding round aims to propel Overjet’s AI platform to new heights, enhancing patient care and streamlining processes for dental professionals and payers alike.
With the support of investors including General Catalyst, Insight Partners, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s E14 Fund, and the American Dental Association, Overjet’s Series C funding has propelled its valuation to $550 million. This funding will empower Overjet to expand its AI platform, creating a unified standard for dental providers and payers. The overarching goal is to simplify dental procedures, making them more patient-centric.
Founded in 2018, Overjet has already made substantial strides in revolutionizing dental care. Its FDA-cleared technology stands as the first objective standard for oral health decisions, ensuring precise detection of pathologies and confident patient education. Overjet’s platform has received recognition for its impact, including features in the Forbes AI 50, Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies, and Built In’s Best Places to Work.
Wardah Inam, CEO of Overjet, expressed enthusiasm for the potential of AI to enhance dental care outcomes: “I founded Overjet to elevate the standard of care in dentistry and enhance patient outcomes through AI. Overjet’s platform empowers dental organizations by enabling precise clinical decisions, enhancing patient communication, and reducing administrative overhead.”
The significance of Overjet’s AI technology extends beyond clinical accuracy. It serves as a bridge between dental providers and payers, fostering smoother communication and expediting processes. Mark Sivers, DMD, Chief Clinical Officer at Aligned Dental Partners, highlighted the impact of Overjet’s platform: “What really excites me is Overjet’s ability to create a common language between providers and payers, so our business can move much faster.”
Overjet’s AI not only enhances clinical decision-making but also expedites insurance claims processes, reducing friction for both providers and patients. The Series C funding will further Overjet’s mission to establish a unified standard in the dental care ecosystem, ensuring seamless connectivity across all stakeholders.
Inam emphasized the broader vision for Overjet’s AI capabilities: “The next step is to seamlessly connect the process of diagnosing and treating pathologies with the process of reviewing and approving claims. Soon, doctors and patients will be able to get benefits decisions in real-time — while insurers will be able to dramatically improve their member experience.”
Overjet’s commitment to advancing dental AI underscores a transformative shift in the industry, aiming to prioritize patient outcomes and streamline dental procedures through innovative technology.
