LG Electronics is set to introduce its groundbreaking smart home Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent at CES 2024, marking a significant leap in home automation and personal assistance. Referred to as “LG’s smart home AI agent,” this innovative device combines robotic, AI, and multi-modal technologies to serve as an all-encompassing home manager and companion.
The unique ‘two-legged’ wheel design of LG’s smart home AI agent allows it to navigate independently throughout the home. Unlike stationary AI devices, this mobile agent can verbally interact with users, express emotions through articulated leg movements, and actively engage in complex conversations. LG’s commitment to creating a “Zero Labor Home” is evident in the device’s ability to enhance users’ daily lives through various functionalities.
Equipped with multi-modal AI technology, including voice and image recognition and natural language processing, the AI agent comprehends context, intentions, and actively communicates with users. Serving as a moving smart home hub, it seamlessly connects and controls smart home appliances and IoT devices, ensuring a cohesive and integrated home automation experience.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Robotics RB5 Platform, the AI agent incorporates on-device AI features such as face and user recognition. Real-time environmental data, including temperature, humidity, and indoor air quality, is gathered through built-in sensors, enabling continuous learning and analysis by LG’s advanced AI technologies.
Versatility is a key feature of LG’s smart home AI agent, offering autonomous home patrolling, energy conservation, and security monitoring. The device can patrol the home, sending notifications if it detects open windows or lights left on. It even functions as a pet monitor and security guard, sending alerts for unusual activities.
Upon the user’s return, the AI agent greets them at the front door, analyzing voice and facial expressions to discern emotions. It can then curate music or other content to match the user’s mood, demonstrating a personalized and human-like interaction. Beyond traditional voice-based interactions, the AI agent actively assists users with transportation details, weather updates, personal schedules, and medication reminders.
LG envisions its smart home AI agent as liberating users from household chores and establishing itself as a dominant player in the smart home market. Lyu Jae-cheol, President of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, emphasizes the company’s commitment to providing customers with a smarter and more enjoyable life at home.
The smart home AI agent, along with other innovative smart life solutions from LG, will be showcased at CES 2024 from January 9-12, offering visitors a firsthand experience of the future of smart home technology.
